Well, who knows how long it has been since my last posting, has it been weeks? months? close to a year since I have written anything worth reading? But thanks to the regular posting of a friend of ours, Laurel and the brand new blog of my wife Justine, I am finally compelled to pay attention to this blog thingy again.

Well lets see what has happened since I last checked into my web diary. 1. My mother in law, Laura Glicken, after a highly spirited struggle against cancer passed on. This was almost 2 months ago now.
2. We now believe that our son Julian has a mild case of Asperger's Syndrome, which is something I have to look up to figure out just what in the hell that means!
3.Justine is into her 3rd or 4th week and doing very well on a anti-inflammation diet, and her sugar cravings are seemingly resolved!!!
And me? Well I am counting down the days that Dubya is leaving the oval office which I believe is now 71( or is it 70???), and being ecstatic with the election results including Barack Hussein Obama winning the election of president, and even though the sub-prime crisis has sent the economy into downward spiral mode I am still (knock on wood) with a secure full time job with sweet health care and I am vested.
I have a beautiful roof above my head. Money is tight but its coming in. Our car died - a hole in the radiator for who knows how long but for 200 clams you can see if the engine is worth fixing- are you serious? But miraculously, Justine's old reliable Honda is still running smoothly and gets better gas mileage and unlike risky used cars is a pretty inexpensive sure thing.
And, after losing my annual bus pass in mid-January which brought me to have to endure 10 walks to and from work each and every week for 7 and a half months, I did finally get it replaced with a new pass and a not so bad photo.
I guess my artwork or some version of it appears in the latest "Knifeboy and Tidbit" cd by Brad Rapp and Dennis Elmer. Oh and on top of everything else George Carlin died on June 22nd of this year, shorty after it was announced that he wold receive the Mark Twain honors doohickey at the Kennedy Center Of course I can get into way more detail on all of these subjects but this is the basic outline of what is going on in Mahoneyland.

started around 12:30 drawing 3 sketches on separate pieces of tracing paper then scanned all 3 images copied them resized them pasted and arranged them on separate layers in a corel painter essentials 2 program file drew and erased a few times added some lines added some color refined the shapes darkened lightened and made heavier the lines defining the shapes and wallah...5 hours later a reasonably well conceived full color yet still "in the rough" image from start to finish!!!!

took a photo using the imacs photo booth then copied the image and pasted it onto a canvas for corel painter and used that and graphire4 to paint a likeness of the photo image and then totally distort color until it is more like fauve animator meltdown!!!!

started with corel painter black acrylic wanted to just do a black form abstract but then it began to look like a horse so I just kept building on it chose a deep pinkish red backdrop color then drew over the black with white....I do not draw horses but this is my best realization of one from memory!!!

I finally figured out how to save a scanned image as a tiff file copy the image and then paste it into a canvas to work on with other media combining the analog and real with the digital and virtual

but the how real is a scan of an ink drawing from a postcard picture of a Rodin sculpture??? this is the one which broke the ice for me when after coming up to my apartment on my first date Justine said that this was her favorite Rodin sculpture!!! Later, after we got married, we went to Paris on our honeymoon, and I got a chance to see the original from the master in his museum...the postcard is pretty damned good....but nothing takes the place for being in the presence of the original!!!
Still corel painter and graphire4 is pretty damned fun!!!

So a friend of mine has finished writing a frickin' 270+ page novel...another one whom I work with has a novel and a multi- novel deal in the works!!! They say we all have a novel within us, but is that really each and every person? There are 8 million stories in the naked city, but I have never seen that show. So what do you think??? That I am made of stone???? Well...I am not, and I am not a ferrett or any other night animal!!!!

But if I could get my creative self all pulled together and focused on a single moment, and then another and another and fasten together these moments, well...it would be....it would be a nice thing, I tells ya! I won't be holding my breath!

This one was drawn while I was sitting with Julian during the time he was painting - both drawings done inside this last day it seems to be flowing ot of me more easily now....and of course it needs to be mentioned that this is my first post in 2.5 months and my first post after joining facebook....now I see that you can do more on blogger....wow this web2.0 stuff rocks my world totally!!!!

The Exorcisim of Julian Mahoney

What is the name of this instrument??? First I was having fun playing it, and then, when Mike came over, being the former first chair trumpet player of Fountain Valley High School circa 1970(???) he was enlisted into the playing of this slide wwhistle or ....whatever it is called!!!

then Julian was playing close my eyes during a show and tell moment- My bro, Mike is holding an old paperback of B.C.

A game that Julian likes to play- feed the guest plastic food out of miniture pots and pans...he is also fond of sharing whatever he eats with whomever he is connecting with...if you end up with a meal you know that he likes you!!!

I love the distorted feel of the perspective appearing on either side of Julians extreme close up of his long rock star preschool hair ; the folded piles of colored underwear to the left ; the haphazard stacking of refridgerator magnets to the upper right...this camera rules!!!!

I am trying to recall which meeting that this doodle occurred in...but there is this observed or imagined continuum in the practice of library science in the public library arena.....on one end is one absolute: Access; on the other end is the other : steward of materials and information. In a perfect world, all materials would be cared for inpeccably, on time or earlier, and those who used the libraries would exhibit the uttmost of respect to other users to staff and volunteers at all times. Because we do not live in a vaccuum of perfection because we are all human and make mistakes is okay but, for those who dare to take advantage of the openness and generosity of our system there is "The Protector To the Access of Ideas"

including multiple hats and multiple scarves obscuring our view of his/her face and as a resultt making him appear suspect.

Julians first day at Sunnyside Montessori Mennonite pre-School

What the...?!!? no, not me, I'm not gonna go to school!!! But he did and he has been liking it so far as well as being very happy to see Mama when his 3.5 hour day of school is done!
Sunnyside is a neighborhood in the Southeast section of Portland, spanning between SE Stark St. and SE Hawthorne Blvd. (north to south) and from SE 28th Ave. to SE 49th Ave. (west to east). Sunnyside is sometimes referred to as Hawthorne/Belmont, for its two main commercial streets, although technically the unofficial geographical area known colloquially as Hawthorne borders both Sunnyside and Richmond neighborhoods.
Sunnyside is bordered by Laurelhurst on the north, Richmond on the south, Buckman on the west, and Mount Tabor on the east. Because of its Victorian architecture and bohemian culture, Hawthorne/Belmont is often compared to San Francisco's Haight Ashbury district.
Mennonites started out as Anabaptists that is against baptism of infants on account of their not being able to conscouisly choose their faith and belief; this was a radical idea back in their beginnings and they experienced much persecution.
The first permanent settlement of Mennonites in the American Colonies consisted of one Mennonite family and twelve Mennonite-Quaker families of Dutch extraction who arrived from Krefeld, Germany in 1683 and settled in Germantown, Pennsylvania. Among these early settlers was William Rittenhouse, a lay minister and owner of the first American paper mill. This early group of Mennonites and Mennonite-Quakers wrote the first formal protest against slavery in America. The treatise was addressed to slave-holding Quakers in an effort to persuade them to change their ways.
Today they are amoung other things big on pacifism and disaster relief. As of 2003 there were about 1.2 million Mennonites with about 444,000 living in the United States.
Montessori-
Introduction to the Methodology in Practice
The Montessori Method is a teaching methodology developed in Italy by Dr. Maria Montessori. With the opening of her first school in 1907 in Rome, the term Montessori became associated with schools that use Dr. Montessori’s educational approach to children as well as her precise educational materials tailored for children’s developmental needs.
Dr. Montessori’s original school was for the preschool aged child, but she later extended the methodology for children through high school and a number of schools around the world implement her approach to education for a wide range of ages.
“From the moment the child enters the classroom, each step in his education is seen as a progressive building block, ultimately forming the whole person, in the emergence from childhood to adult. All focus is on the needs of the child.”
One distinguishing feature of Montessori at the preschool age is that children direct their own learning, choosing among the sections of a well-structured and stocked classroom including Practical Life (fine and gross motor skill development), Sensorial (sensory and brain development), Language, Math, Geography, Science and Art. The role of a teacher is to introduce children to materials and then remain a “silent presence” in the classroom.
Concepts
The Montessori philosophy is built upon the idea that children develop and think differently than adults; that they are not merely "adults in small bodies". Dr. Montessori advocated children's rights, children working to develop themselves into adults, and that these developments would lead to world peace.
The Montessori method discourages traditional measurements of achievement (grades, tests) under the premise that it is damaging to the inner growth of children (and adults). Feedback and qualitative analysis of a child's performance does exist but is usually provided in the form of a list of skills, activities and critical points, and sometimes a narrative of the child's achievements, strengths and weaknesses, with emphasis on the improvement of those weaknesses.

shot these with Laurels poor kodak easyshare cx4200 with the manuel battery compartment lock....in other words it does not lock.....first shot seemed bright so I played with the exposure adjustment first at -2 then I settled for -0.5, but I think -0.5 to -1.0 would be good since you do not know how the light is going to turn out.....being outdoors effect how we see the image in the monitor....and thats as technical as I will get!!!!

so mile 7.5 of the wildwood trail is where the birch trail crosses into the wildwood and I walked from there to just past the alder trail , and back without very much standing still- save the stopping to take pictures!!!!

having fun with corel painter. trying to be bold cartoony sloppy using big curvy bold strokes not caring if it ends up looking like anything yet having a cartoony biomorphic exaggerated.......something......like a bullwinkle taking acid and painting a selff portrait as a totem......or something!

but now I wish I could shape the painting area, or I wish I knew how to do this

Elizabeth Murray was born in Chicago in 1940. She earned a BFA at the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from Mills College in Oakland, California. A pioneer in painting, Murray’s distinctively shaped canvases break with the art-historical tradition of illusionistic space in two-dimensions. Jutting out from the wall and sculptural in form, Murray’s paintings and watercolors playfully blur the line between the painting as an object and the painting as a space for depicting objects. Her still lifes are reminiscent of paintings by masters such as Cézzane, Picasso, and Matisse; however, like her entire body of work, Murray’s paintings rejuvenate old art forms. Breathing life into domestic subject matter, Murray’s paintings often include images of cups, drawers, utensils, chairs, and tables. These familiar objects are matched with cartoonish fingers and floating eyeballs—macabre images that are as nightmarish as they are goofy. Taken in as a whole, Murray’s paintings are abstract compositions rendered in bold colors and multiple layers of paint. But the details of the paintings reveal a fascination with dream states and the psychological underbelly of domestic life. The recipient of many awards, Murray received the Skowhegan Medal in Painting in 1986, the Larry Aldrich Prize in Contemporary Art in 1993, and a John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation Award in 1999. Her work is featured in many collections, including the Walker Art Center, the Museum of Modern Art, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.

This what Mary Rourke wrote in her obit for Murray in the August 16th edition of the L.A. times:

Elizabeth Murray, an artist who painted richly colored, evocative, abstract works after the Minimalist art movement had reduced the art form to a fleet of monochrome canvases, has died. She was 66.

Murray died Sunday at her home in Granville, N.Y. The cause was complications from lung cancer, said Jennifer Joy of PaceWildenstein gallery in New York City, which represented Murray. She had been a resident of Granville and New York City.

Many critics noted the cartoon-like quality of Murray's images, which she attributed to her childhood fascination with comics. The playfulness, however, did not disguise ominous undertones, critics observed.

"Murray's paintings have long possessed a clownishness that embraces dark and light, a slapstick joy coexisting with abject terror and rue," wrote reviewer Stephen Westfall in Art in America magazine in 2006.

Such complexities add to the "psychological intensity" of Murray's art, he wrote.

Murray was born in Chicago in 1940 and grew up in a household unsettled by financial insecurity after her father developed a nervous condition and could not hold a steady job. The family eventually moved to Bloomington, Ill., to live with Murray's grandmother.

In 2006 she was given a major retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, an honor few women have received.

For many years Murray taught art at various schools, including the University of Buffalo, Bard College near New York City, Yale University and California Institute of the Arts in Valencia.

There are of course pros and cons to all writing abouut the creative process because often you need to have your own internal exploration about what the performance or work of art does to you when one experiences it, but I think Francine Prose's prose is very...well, poetic.

"The Four walls of the rectangle cannot possibly contain an art thhat exists on , explores and explodes so many different borders...Elizabeth murray's paintings are anything but lightweight. Far from being humble and timid, they're - given her very particular balance of image and abstraction - confrontational and even pushy in the way they force you against yet another border , a tough demarcation often misidentified as one of gender, or sociology, when in fact that division has more to do with temperament, conscoiusnes, and metaphysics...theseparation between those who can ose themselves in idea, in pure form and abstraction and those who- like Orpheus, like Lot's wife- are sooner or later moved to look back over their shoulders at the raucous and precious world."

RICHIE BUSH SEIZED BY CUSTOMS!
On October 27, U.S. Customs sent a letter to Top Shelf Productions notifying them that copies of the anthology Stripburger had been seized, charging that "Richie Bush" by Peter Kuper constituted "clearly piratical copy" of registered and recorded copyright. The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund has retained counsel to challenge these seizures. "Richie Bush," appearing in Stripburger (Vol. 12) #37, is a four-page parody of Richie Rich that also satirizes the Bush Administration by superimposing the personalities of the President's cabinet on the characters from the comic. " Customs seized fourteen copies of the issue containing "Richie Bush." Top Shelf is the American agent for Stripburger, an Eastern European comics publisher that releases anthologies of comics from cartoonists around the globe. Upon investigating the shipment, Customs released the copies of Miniburger, but held the issues of Stripburger, giving Top Shelf thirty days to either forfeit the shipment, request administrative relief, or initiate court action.Ê At the urging of Stripburger, Top Shelf and CBLDF President Chris Staros brought the case to the attention of the Fund as a potential news story. CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein felt the matter warranted serious legal attention, so it was sent to Burton Joseph, the Fund's legal counsel, whose opinion was that Customs was unlawfully holding First Amendment protected speech. The option of pursuing court action on First Amendment grounds was then taken to the CBLDF Board of Directors, which unanimously voted 8-0 to take up the case; Chris Staros recused himself from the vote. On November 24, the Fund retained counsel in Charleston, SC who hand-delivered a letter to Customs stating that the comics are protected under existing First Amendment case law and should be either immediately released or that court action should be initiated. "In this case, it looks like Customs is overreaching its authority," Staros says.Ê"The comics in question are clearly within the acceptable bounds of parody, and there is absolutely no likelihood that consumers would confuse these works with the subjects that they are parodying."
So What Happened?
The copies of Richie Bush were finally released when challenged by the flaming sword of justice which is the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Customs laid down like dogs, releasing the copies and begging the stalwart heroes at the CBLDF to pardon their treacherous ways.

The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund has secured an important victory against U.S. Customs concerning the seizure of parody comics in South Carolina.

Last November, the CBLDF filed a request for court action with U.S. Customs in Charleston concerning the seizure of issues of Stripburger that included the parody comics "Richie Bush" by Peter Kuper, and "Moj Stub" by Bojan Redzic. Customs seized the books, which were en route to Top Shelf Productions, claiming they were "piratical" infringements on existing copyrights. The Fund disagreed, finding the work to be protected speech, and retained Charleston Attorney Gregg Meyers to bring the request for court action.

This week Customs released the books and will be refunding the $250 filing fee that Top Shelf placed to challenge the seizure.

"This is great news," said CBLDF Executive Director Charles Brownstein. "It's exactly the kind of victory we want, where reason prevails and no one has to go to court. It's always better to prevent a trial than defend a trial, and I'm pleased that the government felt the same way in this case and returned the materials that were wrongfully seized."

Meyers concurs, stating, "I'd say that reaching a resolution with only a single shot fired reflects the realization by the government that the seizure shouldn't have happened. We appreciate that they changed their course."

Top Shelf publisher and CBLDF President Chris Staros added, "Despite the low dollar value of the books seized, the principal of this issue -- that of Customs overreaching its authority to judge what is parody and what is not -- was definitely worth fighting for. Hopefully, the victory in this case will help prevent future incidents of this nature, where a publisher would have much more to lose if, for example, an entire print run was seized."

Okay for those of you who have lived under a rock Peter Kuper new york sequential artist extrodinaire moved to new york city driven by a dream and stuck with it trusting in his instinct his talent and fueled by thhe pure energy of his creative powers helped found one of the oldest zines WW3 has done Spy VS Spy for mad and has done it well....and I say this with all due respect to the original artist of the series

Antonio Prohías (January 17, 1921 - February 24, 1998), born in Cuba, was a cartoonist most famous for creating the comic strip Spy vs. Spy for MAD Magazine.
In the late 1940s, Prohías began working at El Mundo, the most important newspaper in Cuba. By 1960, he had become an internationally recognized and awarded political cartoonist. At this time, Fidel Castro's government took over the paper, and Prohías left Cuba for New York, where he found himself attracted to Mad.
The Mad staff occasionally took group vacations, traveling en masse to other countries. Prohías took part in these vacations when possible, but as a Cuban, he had trouble gaining admission into some countries, and in Italy was actually turned away.
Although he is most famous for Spy vs. Spy, the majority of his comic strips, such as El Hombre Siniestro, La Mujer Siniestra, and Tovarich, were published mostly or only in Cuba. Altogether, only about 20 of his roughly 270 contributions to Mad were of anything other than the spy series. As a result, most of the available information on this other work comes from the Spy Vs Spy Complete Casebook (Watson-Guptill, 2001).

Peter Kuper created a fine series called "eye of the beholder" has done some swell illustrations for covers of some leading magazines including TIME.

I found some photographs when trying to track down a burned cd of......I cannot even remember, but thats unimportant as it seems it opened up a window for me to write down my first impressions by recalling everything I can in a short amount of time from each of these images....a good exercise for anyone....I recommend it!!!

the first photo - the artsy phase I call it- was taken in woodbee wouldbei woodbea island amounst the san juan islands off of seattle washington where bobbi, my youngest older sister, first lived with her then family jodi and scott mcvay- i remember that moment - I remember being fascinated with a beach filled with smooth rocks......and a big driftwood log......very different from the beaches of southern california!!!!

Its fitting that this one is in black and white because this is how the wizard of oz starts kind of like an old obscure forgotten melodrama: "he licks his fingers clean, licks thee surface of his highchair clean and wonders when the adults will set that durned camera down and feed me cause I is hungry!!!!!" also I remember the short piece of black and white super8 film I saw growing up as an intro to a longer pieced together color film(both silent) and the black and white film is from the apartment in garden grove where I lived in an apartment......but if you notice I can hold my head up so I must be older thhan 3 months which is whhen we moved from there to our home in huntington beach california......bought it in late august early septtember 1966 for how much......my mother tells me 25 thousand!!!! doing a search for real estate in the exact same neighborhood last summer on one website it started listing places at 500,000......so.......a 2,000% increase in value in 41 years....not bad!!!!!

My brother robert or rob played drums and was my earliest source of music....chicago, tower of power, chase, and the coveted soundtrack to "shaft" by issac hayes. That was also his old school bike and this photo was taken in the garage back when it was a tiki party room with bamboo and photos of chimps dressed up in various costumes of different professions doctor football player library administrator poet laurette hugh hefner, the list goes on...soon, the jammed garage]e door, the accumulation of stuff and the animals would take over- a great dane and 6 cats with a new litter born each season ading layers of waste and fleas and stench....yuk!!!!

My oldest brother, mike played the trumpet - was first chair at Fountain Valley High School - as the story goes(there were many stories one of which involves the garage and how it got to be in such a state- turns out Bobbi's husband, Scott, had a sports car, threw the keys over to Mike, and said to park it, in which Mike, an eager young lad, parked it allright- in the wrong gear, it thrusted into the garage door, jamming it shut for the remainder of time in which we lived in the house(for the real estate representative we saidd the selling point is "secure lock on garage door"..anyway I digress...so, he had a job lined up for him in the field of architecture- guess he was good and my dad had thhe necessary connections- but took up having a family and then continuing on from his work as a teenager from grocery store managing to representative for a Sundries company for a section of the NW because he had mouths to feed. And our dad - he also had a job lined up for him - but he hitchiked with a friend across the country did jobs here annd there built an extension and some stairs for my godmother in Connecticcut, joined the airforce went dancing found my mother went out every night for 45 days straight got marrried on day 45 or was it day 46 in July of '44, entered WWII doing mostly rescue missions in the Phillipines got out of the service and not long afterwards in October 23rd, 1946 the first of 6 children were born!!!! 53 years to the day after that, I married Justine!

sleepy, Julian woke up again at 4 a.m. crying when I asked him about this he said something about not knowing why his eyes cried. I thought that was an interesting way of recounting the event. He is doing well with the potty training- he is pulling his underwear up and down putting the underwear back on with the tag on the back,he is letting us know when he has to pee with a progression of phrases leading towards but not yet arriving at "I have to pee" he picks up the bowl of his potty dumps it into the toilet flushes the toilet washes his hands puts the bowl back into his potty seat...he starts slipping up on a few of these tasks when the continuity is interrupted like having friends over for a playdate or a nap in a diaper or when he gets sleepy, but still, this past week is definate consistent progress towards independance in this area...next up getting him to want to really brush his teeth and not just moving the brush around, eating the toothpaste off the brush!!!

the hobbit tree- one of the highlights of campsite number 26. although to get any spot is really pretty amazing. some have friends who stay there the first leg then the second group of friends come join them. some just try their luck- but that can be alot of time and gas wasted. some write a message on the message board on the top of the campsite. maybe you do you surfing then come in and scope out the premises. some will drive by early pat of the week pay for a multi-day set then leave a tent or sometthing there showing its taken and come back when they can actually go to camp for awhile.
make no mistakes about it- Oswald West is not just a surfers cove but a place to party until the wee hours of the morning and the campsites arent sound proof folks! or so it was for the 3 nights which we were there- and the required to leash your pet rule.....its optional weather or not your dog is a puppy or has been through obedience school, just go ahead and let your dog roam free- and when camping bring only what you can wheelbarrow down for a 1/4 of a mile and back up.....otherwise you will be stuck with a chore on a constantly rainy morning without breakfast after very little sleeep.....and thats not the way to end a camping trip, although I am sure it must happen on occasion...

a surfer is amused whilst I play with football with my son. guess this is a real surferrs spot here on this side of Neahkanee mountain- but the surf was not kind to those brave enough to venture out unto the waters, although watching surfers out on my home beach growing up in Huntington Beach I expected too much maybe??? wetsuits??? c'mon the water is fine!!!!

Neahkanee mt trail filled with lots and lots of trees very big very Lord of the Rings like and this one you walked in between its legs sort of . some of the old dead trees had decayed with a log or a stump left behind and other moss liccean, etc taking over and in one instance a full grown tree had grown on top of a stump which had broken down there were some big families of 5-6-7 trees other trees which were huge and were curved to acclimate to slanted ridge or maybe to take full advantage of the agle of sunlight it recieved......truly breathtaking and a real feeling of the spirit of ancient forests seemed to live here.

Both of these drawings were done in 1996- I was going through a transition in my life- ending a nearly 7 year relationship which had fizzled out 3 years previous and moving out first with my mom and then almost exactly a month later, after doing the north portland-tigard commute for work(lots o reading and listening to music there!...and maybe it why my sketchbook is filled with not only such rich images and writing but so many!!! read some henry miller went back to school moved to a studio in laurelhurst or as I affectionately called it laurelthirst since many a beer cannonball of chicken chili and packs o cigarettes were smoked there. lots of living drinking spending money having a friend Tony move into the apartment building adjoining mine transferring to gresham then back to portland then finally to rockwood as a clerk turned 30 in 1996.

lots of reexamining of my life during these 3 years - taking some classes with Mel Katz- really trying to find myself annd then after too much stress and after too much rehashing over the same stupid damned things - a period of depression- the new year with 2 blue moons and falling in love and thus ends ann intense period of my life- from may 1996 to februuary 1998.

So, it had been awhile since I last drove...and having the residue of the anxiety still trapped somewhere within from that crash back on April 15th, where I took an exit a little too fast and then turned a little too sudden on a little too slick of a road with tires which may have skidded a little too much from a previous incident that same day and flying sideways into the freeway divider where I flung my body from midpoint to the left inner padded loer ceiling between the drivers side window and the back left passengers window the car having flung like a cue ball in a bank shot or a hockey puck also in a bank shot...
I did manage to drive a few times once to forest park once to a dentist appointment once to pick up a garage sale iteem maybe one more time and then this morning to LLoyd Center to buy my new glasses and back... not a big deal I tell you ... not a big deal besides the inner drama that went on initially.....until..... until i reached 20th and burnside and saw a long firetruck a couple of police cars flares, etc, blinking lights.....hey thats where I was going to g-g-g-g-g-.......hey......what th'......huh???
Yes, thats right, the car was turned over, and enough of it was out of sight that the imagination was running away, but I had to reel it in and get back to me being behind the wheel talk myself through every action and soon I was realigning myself for another attempt at paralell parking and successs....misssion accomplished!

I think my trick is the bit where I talk myself through each and every step of the process...do they call that neurolinguistic programming? I dunno!

So today is the 4th of July.....happy independance day!!! anyone familiar with a certain document which was written abouut 231 years ago??? I will give you a chunk of this document, not a very familiar chunk, to see if you can guess...

He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden his governors to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of representation in the legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

Later in his reign George III suffered from recurrent and, eventually, permanent mental illness. Due to its use by the ruling class to murder one another and its potency and discreetness, arsenic has been called the Poison of Kings and the King of Poisons.

Johann Schröder (1600-1664) was a German physician and pharmacologist who was the first person to recognise that arsenic was an element. In 1649, he produced the elemental form of arsenic by heating its oxide, and published two methods for its preparation.

In the Victorian era, 'arsenic' (colourless, crystalline, soluble 'white arsenic') was mixed with vinegar and chalk and eaten by women to improve the complexion of their faces, making their skin paler to show they did not work in the fields. Arsenic was also rubbed into the faces and arms of women to 'improve their complexion'. The accidental use of arsenic in the adulteration of foodstuffs led to the Bradford sweet poisoning in 1858, which resulted in approximately 20 deaths and 200 people taken ill with arsenic poisoning.

But wait, theres more.....

A 2005 article in the medical journal The Lancet suggested the source of the arsenic could be the antimony used as a consistent element of the King's medical treatment. The two minerals are often found in the same ground, and mineral extraction at the time was not precise enough to eliminate arsenic from compounds containing antimony.

Napolean Boneaparte his contemporary,possibly got his arsenic poisoning on the island where he stayed in exile, due to the wallpaper; the pigment of which contained arsenic.... and later, impressionist and post impressionist painters Monet(blindness) Cezanne(diabetes) Van gogh(neurological disorders)....all possibly caused by Vermillion green which at the time was based in aresenic!!!Poisoning by other commonly used substances, including liquor and absinthe, lead pigments, mercury-based Vermilion, and solvents such as turpentine could also be a factor in these cases!!! See art was very dangerous back then!!!

and that is how freedom is like arsenic poisoning! Happy 4th of July!!!
